BenQ
We called in at ColorConfidence to look at the new BenQ range of monitors. We tested the SW2700PT just a year ago and in view of its success and great popularity BenQ have added a nominal 32-inch variant with the same basic specification – that is, aimed squarely at the photography market and user with high-end performance and 99% ARGB gamut coverage. You may recall we tested the SW2700PT and found tremendous colour accuracy so we look forward to running the rule over its big brother (it’s now arrived on site). The resolution of the new unit is a whopping 3,840 x 2,160 pixels and although the palettes and text are proportionally smaller it was easily crisp enough to display them with great clarity. The new monitor carries the designation SW320.

PermaJet
PermaJet had their new shiny FB Mono Gloss Baryta 320 on show and as we had a sneak peek at it we have a review in this issue already. It looks like a winner.

Hahnemuhle Photo Gloss Baryta 320
This was another new paper launched at TPS and available soon, ahigh gloss baryta with a very shiny finish to complement the high performance we can expect from the coating. We look forward to testing this one as soon as it comes available. It replaces Harman by Hahnemuhle Gloss Baryta.

Nikon
Nikon had an imposing array of lenses for the punters to drool over but we sent Paul McMullin on a specific mission to see the 19mm TC lens (it’s the sort of thing he uses regularly as an architectural specialist). It is an impressive beast with a huge front element that may be protected by a slip-on cap but there is no lens hood specified. We understand that Lee Filters are working on an adaptor for their system which should keep the landscape/Big Stopper fraternity very happy.
